Dear Rina and Ella. As I'm reading through the many heartfelt messages of condolence from everyone who had the good fortune of working with and getting to know your wonderful mother, what stands out to me are the messages of love and respect from her many students. Reading the names of so many of her beloved students brought me back to the memory that a teacher's love and commitment endures long after the many, many students have moved on in their lives. These memories will last a lifetime. This was your beautiful mother's gift and it was her special gift to me. I am still processing this heartbreaking loss and remembering all the special times we shared. Rina, Ella, Zoe and Ivy, I am crying with you and know that your mother's strength and beautiful spirit will live on in you and bring you peace. Love Sarah

Kogan was truly one of the best teacher in Dublin Heights. She made me feel welcomed and happy to Dublin and would always wait for me whenever my bus would come. I am so sorry for your loss and I would truly miss you ,Rip Liliya Kogan.

I met Liliya when I was a co-op student in her classroom. She was always warm, friendly, and caring and the kids loved her. My condolences to her family. She will be greatly missed.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Liliya (Ms. Kogan) who brought such positive energy, kindness, and joy to everyone around her. Her love for music was especially inspiring, and she shared that passion so generously with her students each and every day. She had a special gift for making students feel seen, encouraged, and valued. Through her warmth, creativity, and dedication, she helped to keep the day filled with laughter, learning, and connection. Her partnership and support in our music concerts and performances were especially appreciated by myself and brought people together and helped create memorable experiences for students, staff, and families alike. She was always willing to lend her talents, encouragement, and uplifting spirit to every musical event! The impact she made on her students, colleagues, and school community will not be forgotten. My sincerest condolences go out to her family, friends, students, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Ella, I'm so sorry to hear about your mum and dad. May both of their memories were blessings. Please take care, both you and the rest of your family.

Rina, Ella and family, I am so saddened to have learned about the passing of your mama Liliya. I worked with Liliya close to 25 years ago when I was teaching grade 1 at Rockford Public School. She was a tremendous asset to our classroom– a warm and compassionate soul who gave herself whole heartedly to others. Over the years we would run into each other occasionally and with her warm smile, always asked how my family was doing. I will miss her warmth and consideration. Liliya was a kind and caring educator. I worked with her many times over the years, bringing new students into the program and she was always welcoming and supportive . You can see from the many students sending messages that she really was loved. My condolences to her family.

She was one of our greatest teachers and she made everyone feel welcome and happy. We remember a time when I was in grade 6 we used to play Sudku puzzle. When I was graduated I gave tote bag and she said"omg how do you know that I wanted?!?" I met Liliya when she worked in the classroom next to mine at Dublin and she welcomed me right away. She always had a smile on her face, kind words, and would do anything for others - truly selfless. I am very sad to hear of her passing. My condolences to her family.

Dear Rina and Ella, We are so saddened by your mama’s passing. In a very short period, both your parents passed away. Our deepest condolences for your losses. We met Liliya and Mark with their two young daughters in Israel where we lived in the same apartment building. When we decided to move to Canada they took great interest in our plan. We subsequently lost track of each other, but when we moved from Vancouver to Toronto we accidentally met on a street; Lilya and Mark have been our close friends ever since. Liliya was literally radiating positivity, she was a very caring person (remembering every detail about everyone she met), very bright and tried to make a real difference with all her heart. It is rare to meet a person so focused on her job. She loved what she was doing. It was her destiny to work with kids. She always shared stories about her students, how talented they are and how she loved spending time with them. Rest in peace Lilya!

Dear Kogan Family, As a former principal at Dublin Heights School, I had the pleasure of working with Liliya. She was the most caring and compassionate person and helped so many of her students feel accomplished and cared for. May her memory be a blessing.

I am a former student of Ms.Kogan. From what I remember Ms. Kogan was always radiating of positivity and it was always clear to me that she was passionate to be a teacher. She will always be remembered, and I am so sorry for your loss.

It was very nice to see her every day at school. Each time there was an upcoming assembly, she was the one to teach me the songs to sing there or how to be brave. I'm really sorry for your loss.💔

To the Family of Mrs. Kogan, We want to share our condolences, we are so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Kogan will be greatly missed. She was one of our greatest teachers and she made everyone feel welcome and happy. We remember a time when she bought pizza for the whole class, as a way to celebrate her brother’s birthday. That was so thoughtful of her! Last year, we also remember that she made us special key chains as a gift. She was so generous with us! She also bought us travel sized games as gifts for Christmas/ Chanukah. Mrs. Kogan dedicated extra time to clubs (e.g. badminton) as well as musical performances. We will never forget the time she worked with us to perform the song “I Believe I Can Fly” in ASL. Raysean remembers sharing his favourite song with her, “Golden Hour” by JVKE. The class also remembers her teaching them about the story “Oliver Twist”. She loved teaching classic literature. Mrs. Kogan had a very gentle spirit and was always so kind to everyone. She also loved to teach the students new games. Hiyab, Al-Ameen,Usman, Chinmayi, Zainab, Dolkar, Raysean, and Michael remember the time she taught them how to play Pick-Up Sticks, Checkers, and Dominoes. Neelam recalls that she had a way of connecting with people very quickly. Students also remember that she was so organized and made a big effort to make sure that they had everything they needed to be successful in class. We are so thankful that we had the opportunity to learn from her. She was an amazing teacher and will be greatly missed! I am deeply saddened to hear of Lilya’s passing. She was the very first person to welcome me to Dublin and we both enjoyed reminiscing about that day. Her positive presence and her enduring love for her students and the children at Dublin will be truely missed.

In the short time that I had the privilege of knowing Liliya, it became quickly evident that she was a special messenger of love, kindness, caring and compassion. I am reminded of a quote by Etienne de Grellet, a missionary who said: " I shall pass this way but once; any good that I do or any kindness that I can show to any human being; let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again." Liliya lived in the moment and her life was a mission of indelible goodness that forever touched hearts and made an immense difference to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Kogan was always very kind and welcoming to me, and those small moments really meant a lot. I’ll remember her for that.

I was so saddened to hear of Liliya’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with her for over 20 years at Dublin Heights. She was always so kind, friendly, and fun to be around. She was truly a pleasure to work with and will be remembered very fondly. My heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones.

Liliya was a dedicated educator who went above and beyond. I'm so sorry for your loss, as she had so much passion for everything she participated in. Liliya for those who weren't aware, spent so many extra hours doing things for students and contributing to the bigger community. Such a great loss to education and all those she had connected with. Dear Ella, I am so sorry for the passing of your mother. My heart goes out to you and your whole family. Always remember Orli and I are here for you always and forever. Your mom is now at peace smiling in heaven watching over you and proud of you for the amazing person you are.

We have known Liliya and her husband Mark z'l since 1990. They are very kind, very nice people, very good friends. We could not even imagine that we will have to attend their funerals one few months apart from the other. God always takes the best ones, he probably needs them in heaven with a mission.
