Esther Gold, a beloved matriarch and an indomitable spirit, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, in Toronto, Ontario, at the age of 91. Born on June 6, 1934, in Bat Yam, Israel, Esther was a larger-than-life figure whose wisdom, and unwavering commitment to her family and to Yiddishkeit left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Esther was the cherished wife of the late David Gold, z”l, with whom she shared a life for almost 60 years. She is survived by her sons, Ari Gold and his wife Jordi Greenspoon, Doron Gold and his wife Ifat Witz, as well as the late Jordan Gold, z”l, whose memory she carried in her heart every day. Esther’s legacy lives on through her seven grandchildren: Jordan, Alexandra, Aidan, Matthew, Maya, Jake and Max. Esther will also be missed deeply by her brother, Chaim Eisenstat, as well as her nieces and nephews: Sara Burakowski, Ella Burakowski and her husband Marshall Cohen, David Eisenstat and his wife Amanda Salem, Larry Biel and his wife Dinora, Stanley Biel and his wife Leila, and Merrill Biel and his wife Leslie.

Esther was an admired educator and leader in the Jewish community. She was an unapologetically strong and proud Jew. She was the embodiment of an Eshet Chayil.
